प्रेत्य जातिकृतं कर्म न स्मरन्ति सदा जना:।
ते वै तस्य फलप्राप्तौ कर्म चापि चतुर्विधम्॥ १४॥
अनुवाद
इसके उत्तर में यह कहा जा सकता है कि जो प्राणी मर चुके हैं, उन्हें अपने पूर्वजन्मों के कर्म सदैव याद नहीं रहते। किन्तु जब किसी पूर्वकर्म का फल प्राप्त होता है, तो वही लोग चार प्रकार के कर्मों (मन, वाणी, नेत्र और कर्म से किए गए) को सदैव याद रखते हैं - अर्थात् वे कहते हैं कि अवश्य ही मैंने पूर्वजन्म में कोई कर्म किया होगा जिसका फल इस रूप में प्राप्त हुआ है।
In answer to this it can be said that the beings who have died cannot always remember the deeds done in their previous lives. But when the fruit of any previous deed is received, then the same people always remember the four types of deeds (done by mind, speech, eyes and action) - that is, they say that I must have done some deed in my previous life whose fruit has been received in this form.
