| ‘In ancient times, Bharata, the son of Dushyanta, the son of great power, had, to please the gods, tied three hundred horses on the bank of the Yamuna, twenty on the bank of the Sarasvati and fourteen on the bank of the Ganga and performed the same number of Ashwamedha sacrifices.* In his lifetime he had performed a thousand Ashwamedha and a hundred Rajasuya sacrifices.॥ 46-47॥ |
