बाह्य वस्तुओं को देखना, सुनना, सूंघना, स्पर्श करना और चखना - ये क्रमशः नेत्र आदि पाँच इन्द्रियों के कार्य हैं। किसी प्रकार इन्हें इन इन्द्रियों के गुण ही समझना चाहिए। पाँचों इन्द्रियाँ पाँच विषयों में पाँच प्रकार से (दर्शन आदि क्रियाओं के रूप में) उपस्थित रहती हैं। 13॥
Seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting external things – these are the functions of the five senses like eyes respectively. Somehow you should consider them as the qualities of these senses. The five senses are present in the five subjects in five ways (in the form of activities like darshan etc.). 13॥
