स तु धर्मो मृगो भूत्वा बहुवर्षोषितो वने।
तस्य निष्कृतिमाधत्त न त्वसौ यज्ञसंविधि:॥ १७॥
अनुवाद
वास्तव में उस मृग के रूप में स्वयं धर्म ही थे, जो मृग का रूप धारण करके अनेक वर्षों से वन में रह रहे थे। प्राणियों की हत्या यज्ञ-विधि के विरुद्ध कार्य है। भगवान धर्म ने उस ब्राह्मण की रक्षा करने का विचार किया॥17॥
In reality, Dharma himself was in the form of that deer, who had taken the form of a deer and was living in the forest for many years. Killing animals is an act contrary to the rules of Yagya. Lord Dharma thought of saving that Brahmin.॥ 17॥
