बहून्यहानि कौरव्य: कुरुक्षेत्रे महामृधे॥ ८॥
समेतं पार्थिवं क्षत्रं वाराणस्यां नदीसुत:।
कन्यार्थमाह्वयद् वीरो रथेनैकेन संयुगे॥ ९॥
येन चोग्रायुधो राजा चक्रवर्ती दुरासद:।
दग्धश्चास्त्रप्रतापेन स मया युधि घातित:॥ १०॥

कुरुक्षेत्र में महायुद्ध करने वाले तथा हाथ में धनुष-बाण लेकर बहुत दिनों तक परशुरामजी के साथ युद्ध करने वाले कुरुवंश के वीर योद्धा, काशीराज की पुत्रियों के लिए युद्ध का अवसर आने पर एक ही रथ से वहाँ एकत्रित समस्त क्षत्रिय राजाओं को चुनौती देने वाले वीर गंगानन्दन भीष्म, जिन्होंने अपने अस्त्रों के बल से अजेय चक्रवर्ती राजा उग्रायुध को भस्म कर दिया था, उन सभी को मैंने युद्ध में मार डाला।
