क्रमशस्त्ववधूयैनां तृतीयां वृत्तिमुत्तमाम्।
संयोगव्रतखिन्नानां वानप्रस्थाश्रमौकसाम्॥ २॥
श्रूयतां पुत्र भद्रं ते सर्वलोकाश्रमात्मनाम्।
प्रेक्षापूर्वं प्रवृत्तानां पुण्यदेशनिवासिनाम्॥ ३॥
अनुवाद
पुत्र! तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। जो वनवासी मुनियों ने इस तीसरे उत्तम गृहस्थ धर्म की भी उपेक्षा कर दी है और जो पत्नी के साथ रहकर व्रत और नियमों का पालन करते हैं, तथा जिन्होंने वानप्रस्थ आश्रम को ही अपना आश्रय बना लिया है, जिनके लिए सम्पूर्ण जगत और आश्रम ही उनका स्वरूप है, जो व्रत और नियमों का पालन करते हैं और तीर्थों में निवास करते हैं, उन वनवासी मुनियों का धर्म मैं तुमसे कहता हूँ। सुनो, मैं तुम्हें ऐसे वनवासी मुनियों का धर्म बताता हूँ॥2-3॥
Son, may you be blessed. I am telling you the religion of those forest dwelling sages who have neglected even this third excellent profession of a householder and are saddened by the vows and rules that are performed in the company of their wife, and who have made the Vanaprastha Ashram their refuge, for whom the entire world and the ashram are their own form, who are engaged in vows and rules after due consideration and who reside in holy places. Listen, I am telling you the religion of such forest dwelling sages. ॥2-3॥
