चलं यथा दृष्टिपथं परैति
सूक्ष्मं महद् रूपमिवाभिभाति।
स्वरूपमालोचयते च रूपं
परं तथा बुद्धिपथं परैति॥ २३॥
अनुवाद
जैसे तीव्र गति से चलने वाली नाव पर बैठे हुए मनुष्य की आँखों में किनारे के वृक्ष पीछे की ओर तेजी से भागते हुए दिखाई देते हैं, वैसे ही बुद्धि के विकार के कारण शुद्ध और विकाररहित आत्मा विकारयुक्त प्रतीत होती है और जैसे चश्मे या दूरबीन से देखने पर सूक्ष्म अक्षर मोटा और छोटी आकृति बहुत बड़ी दिखाई देती है, वैसे ही बुद्धि और बुद्धि-समूह के शरीर के साथ संयोग होने के कारण सूक्ष्म आत्मा तत्त्व भी शरीर रूप में प्रतीत होता है और जैसे स्वच्छ दर्पण अपने मुख का प्रतिबिंब दिखाता है, वैसे ही शुद्ध बुद्धि को आत्मा के स्वरूप की झलक उपलब्ध हो जाती है।
Just as in the eyes of a man sitting on a fast-moving boat, the trees on the side appear to be running rapidly backwards, in the same way, the pure and disorderly soul appears to be disordered due to the disorder of the intellect, and just as through glasses or binoculars, a fine letter appears thick and a small figure appears very big, in the same way, the subtle soul element also appears to be in the form of a body due to the union of the intellect and the wisdom-group with the body. And just as a clean mirror shows the reflection of its face, in the same way a glimpse of the soul's form becomes available to the pure intellect. 23॥
इति श्रीमहाभारते शान्तिपर्वणि मोक्षधर्मपर्वणि मनुबृहस्पतिसंवादे द्वॺधिकद्विशततमोऽध्याय:॥ २०२॥
इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत शान्तिपर्वके अन्तर्गत मोक्षधर्मपर्वमें मनु-बृहस्पति-संवादविषयक दो सौ दोवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ॥ २०२॥
