शत्रुरूपा हि सुहृदो मित्ररूपाश्च शत्रव:।
संधितास्ते न बुद्धॺन्ते कामक्रोधवशं गता:॥ १३८॥
अनुवाद
अवसर आने पर बहुत से मित्र शत्रु बन जाते हैं और बहुत से शत्रु मित्र बन जाते हैं। परस्पर सन्धि करके जब वे काम और क्रोध के वशीभूत हो जाते हैं, तब यह समझना असम्भव हो जाता है कि वे मैत्रीभाव से भरे हैं या शत्रुभाव से?॥138॥
‘When the occasion arises, many friends become enemies and many enemies become friends. After making a mutual treaty, when they become subject to lust and anger, it becomes impossible to understand whether they are filled with friendly feelings or hostile feelings?॥ 138॥
