अवरोधान् जुगुप्सेत का सपत्नधने दया।
न त्वेवात्मा प्रदातव्य: शक्ये सति कथंचन॥ ८॥
अनुवाद
शत्रु के आक्रमण करने पर राजा को चाहिए कि वह पहले अपने भीतर के महल की रक्षा करे। यदि शत्रु वहाँ अधिकार कर ले, तो वहाँ से अपनी आसक्ति और ममता हटा ले; क्योंकि जो धन और परिवार शत्रु के वश में हो गए हैं, उन पर दया करने से क्या लाभ? जहाँ तक हो सके, किसी भी प्रकार अपने आपको शत्रु के हाथ में नहीं पड़ने देना चाहिए ॥8॥
When the enemy attacks, the king should first try to protect his inner palace. If the enemy takes over there, then he should remove his attachment and affection from there; because what is the use of showing pity on the wealth and family which have gone under the control of the enemy? As far as possible, one should not let oneself fall into the hands of the enemy in any way. ॥ 8॥
