भीष्म उवाच
सत्येन हि स्थितो धर्म उपपत्त्या तथा परे।
साध्वाचारतया केचित् तथैवौपयिकादपि॥ २॥ |

| भीष्मजी बोले- राजन! कुछ लोग सत्य से ही धर्म की स्थिरता मानते हैं। कुछ लोग तर्क से धर्म की स्थापना मानते हैं। कुछ लोग सदाचार से धर्म की स्थापना मानते हैं और कुछ लोग यथासम्भव साम-दान आदि उपायों का आश्रय लेकर धर्म की स्थापना स्वीकार करते हैं।॥ 2॥ |

| Bhishmaji said- King! Some people believe that Dharma remains stable only through truth. Others believe that Dharma is established through logic. Some people believe that Dharma is established through good conduct and some people accept the establishment of Dharma by resorting to means like Sama-Daana etc. as far as possible.॥ 2॥ |
