इस प्रकार शिखण्डी का वध करके शत्रुओं को पीड़ा पहुँचाने वाले अश्वत्थामा ने क्रोध में भरकर समस्त प्रभद्रकों पर बड़े वेग से आक्रमण किया। इसके साथ ही उसने राजा विराट की शेष सेना पर भी बड़े वेग से आक्रमण किया।
