स चेष्टमानानुद्विग्नान् निरुत्साहान् सहस्रश:।
न्यपातयन्नरान् क्रुद्ध: पशून् पशुपतिर्यथा॥ १२९॥ |

| जैसे प्रलयकाल में क्रोधी पशुपति रुद्र सम्पूर्ण पशुओं का संहार कर देते हैं, वैसे ही कुपित अश्वत्थामा ने सहस्रों मनुष्यों को मार डाला जो किसी प्रकार प्राण बचाने का प्रयत्न कर रहे थे और पूर्णतया भयभीत हो गए थे तथा उनका सारा उत्साह नष्ट हो गया था॥129॥ |

| Just as at the time of dissolution, the wrathful Pashupati Rudra kills all the animals, similarly the enraged Ashvatthama killed thousands of human beings who were trying to save their lives in some way or the other and were completely frightened and had lost all enthusiasm.॥ 129॥ |
