यथा ह्युच्चावचैर्वाक्यै: क्षिप्तचित्तो नियम्यते।
तथैव सुहृदा शक्यो न शक्यस्त्ववसीदति॥ ८॥
अनुवाद
जैसे लोग पागल को कठोर वचन बोलकर या डराकर वश में करने का प्रयत्न करते हैं, वैसे ही मित्र अपने सम्बन्धियों को डाँट-फटकारकर वश में करने का प्रयत्न करते हैं। जो वश में हो जाता है, वह सुखी होता है और जो किसी प्रकार वश में नहीं होता, वह दुःख पाता है।॥8॥
Just as people try to control a mad person by using harsh words or by threatening him, similarly friends try to control their relatives by admonishing them and scolding them. The one who is controlled is happy and the one who cannot be controlled in any way, suffers.॥ 8॥
