उग्रश्रवाजी कहते हैं - शौनकजी! वे ब्राह्मण वहाँ प्रमोदवारा के चारों ओर बैठे हुए थे, उस समय रुरु अत्यन्त दुःखी हो गया और गहन वन में जाकर जोर-जोर से रोने लगा। दुःख से पीड़ित होकर उसने अत्यन्त करुण विलाप किया और अपनी प्रिय प्रमोदवारा का स्मरण करके दुःखी होकर इस प्रकार बोला - 'हाय! वह दुबली-पतली कन्या भूमि पर सोकर मेरा तथा समस्त बन्धु-बान्धवों का दुःख बढ़ा रही है; इससे बढ़कर दुःख और क्या हो सकता है?॥1-3॥
Ugrasravaji says - Shaunakji! Those Brahmins were sitting around Pramodwara there, at that time Ruru became very sad and went into the deep forest and started crying loudly. Being afflicted with grief, he made a very pitiful lamentation and remembering his beloved Pramodwara, he became sad and said in this way - 'Alas! That thin-skinned girl is sleeping on the ground increasing the grief of me and all the relatives; what can be more sad than this?॥1-3॥
