तब सभी कन्याएँ एक साथ जल से बाहर आईं और पास में रखे अपने-अपने वस्त्र उठाने लगीं। उस मिलन में शर्मिष्ठा ने देवयानी के वस्त्र ले लिए। शर्मिष्ठा वृषपर्वा की पुत्री थी; उसे यह पता नहीं था कि दोनों के वस्त्र आपस में मिल गए हैं।
Then all the girls came out of the water together and started taking their various clothes which were kept nearby. In that mingling Sharmishtha took Devayani's clothes. Sharmishtha was the daughter of Vrishparva; she did not know that the clothes of both had got mixed up. 5-6.
