न मे वागनृतं प्राह स्वैरेष्वपि कुतोऽन्यथा।
तं वै नृपवरं गत्वा दीक्षितं जनमेजयम्॥ २०॥
वाग्भिर्मङ्गलयुक्ताभिस्तोषयिष्येऽद्य मातुल।
यथा स यज्ञो नृपतेर्निवर्तिष्यति सत्तम॥ २१॥ |

| 'मैंने कभी विनोद में भी झूठ नहीं बोला, फिर इस संकटकाल में कैसे कह सकता हूँ । हे पुण्यात्माओं में श्रेष्ठ चाचा ! आज मैं सर्पयज्ञ के लिए दीक्षित हुए महाबली राजा जनमेजय के पास जाऊँगा और अपने शुभ वचनों से उन्हें इस प्रकार संतुष्ट करूँगा कि राजा का यज्ञ रुक जाएगा ।॥ 20-21॥ |
