‘तपधान! तुम अपने पूर्वजों के वंश में एकमात्र शेष सूत्र हो। हे ब्रह्मन! तुम जो हमें खस के गुच्छे का सहारा लेकर लटके हुए देख रहे हो, यह खस का गुच्छ नहीं, हमारे वंश का आधार है, जो हमारे वंश को बढ़ाने वाला है। ब्रह्मन! इस खस की जो कटी हुई जड़ें तुम यहाँ देख रहे हो, ये हमारे वंश के सूत्र (संतान) हैं, जिन्हें कालरूपी चूहे ने खा लिया है। ब्रह्मन! इस खस की जो आधी कटी हुई जड़ तुम देख रहे हो, जिसके सहारे हम गड्ढे में लटके हुए हैं, यही तपस्या में लीन बालक जरत्कारु और ब्रह्मनदेव ही हैं! जिसे तुम चूहे के रूप में देख रहे हो, वही महाबली काल है।॥23-26॥
‘Tapadhan! You are the only remaining thread in the lineage of your ancestors. O Brahman! What you are seeing us hanging by taking support of a bunch of Khas, this is not a bunch of Khas, it is the support of our lineage, which is going to increase our lineage. Brahmin! The cut roots of this Khas which you are seeing here, these are the threads (offspring) of our lineage, which have been eaten by the rat in the form of time. Brahmin! The half-cut root of this Khas which you see, with the support of which we are hanging in the pit, this is the only child Jaratkaru, who is engaged in penance and Brahmin God! The one whom you are seeing in the form of a rat, is the mighty time.॥ 23-26॥
