सौतिरुवाच
एलापत्रवच: श्रुत्वा ते नागा द्विजसत्तम।
सर्वे प्रहृष्टमनस: साधु साध्वित्यथाब्रुवन्॥ १॥
तत: प्रभृति तां कन्यां वासुकि: पर्यरक्षत।
जरत्कारुं स्वसारं वै परं हर्षमवाप च॥ २॥ |

| उग्रश्रवाजी कहते हैं- हे ब्राह्मणश्रेष्ठ! एलापत्र के वचन सुनकर नागों के मन प्रसन्न हो गए। सबने एक साथ कहा- 'ठीक है, ठीक है।' यह सुनकर वासुकि भी बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। उस दिन से वे अपनी बहन जरत्कारुका का बड़े प्रेम से पालन-पोषण करने लगे। 1-2. |
