उग्रश्रवाजी कहते हैं- इन्द्र की यह बात सुनकर गरुड़ को कद्रुपुत्रों की दुष्टता याद आ गई। उन्हें उनका छलपूर्ण व्यवहार भी याद आ गया, जिसके कारण उन्होंने अपनी माता को दासी बना लिया था। अतः उन्होंने इन्द्र से कहा- 'इन्द्र! यद्यपि मैं सब कुछ करने में समर्थ हूँ, फिर भी मैं तुम्हारी यह प्रार्थना पूरी करूँगा कि अमृत किसी और को न दिया जाए। साथ ही, तुम्हारी इच्छानुसार यह वर भी माँगता हूँ कि महाबली सर्प मेरा आहार बनें।'॥12-13॥
Ugrashravaji says- On hearing Indra say this, Garuda remembered the wickedness of Kadruputras. He also remembered their deceitful behaviour which was the reason for making their mother a maid. So he said to Indra- 'Indra! Although I am capable of doing everything, I will still fulfill your request that the nectar should not be given to others. Along with this, as per your wish, I also ask for this boon that the mighty snakes should become my food.'॥12-13॥
