जब धृतराष्ट्र ने सुना कि पाण्डवों ने श्रीकृष्ण को अपना नेता चुन लिया है और उन्हें आगे रखकर युद्ध के लिए प्रस्थान कर रहे हैं, तब चिन्ता के कारण उनकी निद्रा नष्ट हो गई और वे सारी रात जागते रहे। उस समय महात्मा विदुर ने बुद्धिमान राजा धृतराष्ट्र को अनेक प्रकार से एक अत्यन्त आश्चर्यजनक नीति का उपदेश दिया (वही विदुर नीति के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है)।॥ 227-228॥
When Dhritarashtra heard that the Pandavas had chosen Shri Krishna as their leader and were setting out for the war with him at the forefront, he lost his sleep due to worry and remained awake the whole night. At that time, Mahatma Vidur preached a very astonishing policy in various ways to the wise king Dhritarashtra (the same is famous as Vidur Niti).॥ 227-228॥
