जब विदुरजी ने सुना कि पाण्डवों को द्रौपदी मिल गई है और धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र अपना अभिमान चूर-चूर होकर लज्जित होकर लौट आए हैं, तब वे मन ही मन बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। हे राजन! फिर वे धृतराष्ट्र के पास गए और विस्मययुक्त स्वर में बोले - 'महाराज! यह हमारा सौभाग्य है कि कौरव वंश बढ़ रहा है।' 16-17.
