धृष्टद्युम्नं तु पाञ्चाल्यमानीय स्वं निवेशनम्।
उपाकरोदस्त्रहेतोर्भारद्वाज: प्रतापवान्॥ ५५॥
अमोक्षणीयं दैवं हि भावि मत्वा महामति:।
तथा तत् कृतवान् द्रोण आत्मकीर्त्यनुरक्षणात्॥ ५६॥
अनुवाद
भावी नियति के विधान को टालना असम्भव समझकर परम बुद्धिमान एवं प्रतापी भरद्वाजनंदन द्रोण ने पांचाल राजकुमार धृष्टद्युम्न को अपने घर लाकर उसे शस्त्रविद्या सिखाकर उस पर बड़ा उपकार किया। द्रोणाचार्य ने अपनी कीर्ति की रक्षा के लिए वह दानशील कार्य किया॥ 55-56॥
Thinking that it is impossible to avert the future decrees of destiny, the most intelligent and glorious Bharadvajanandan Drona brought the Panchala prince Dhrishtadyumna to his home and did him a great favour by teaching him the art of weapons. Dronacharya did that generous act to protect his reputation.॥ 55-56॥
