आपत्तिकाल के सिद्धान्त को जानने वाले प्राचीन ऋषियों ने कहा है कि मनुष्य को कोई क्रूर या निन्दनीय कार्य नहीं करना चाहिए। अतः अच्छा है कि मैं आज ही अपनी पत्नी सहित मर जाऊँ; किन्तु मैं ब्राह्मण-हत्या की अनुमति कभी नहीं दे सकता। ॥11-12॥
The ancient sages who are well versed with the principles of emergency have said that one should not commit any cruel or condemnable act. Therefore, it is better that I perish along with my wife today; but I can never give permission for the killing of a Brahmin. ॥11-12॥
