वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं: 'हे जनमेजय! पुरुषोत्तम पाण्डवों के शुभ आगमन का समाचार सुनकर वारणावत नगर के सभी नागरिक अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हुए और आलस्य छोड़कर हजारों की संख्या में नाना प्रकार के वाहनों पर सवार होकर शास्त्रविधि के अनुसार सब प्रकार की शुभ वस्तुओं का उपहार लेकर उनके स्वागत के लिए आये।
Vaishmpayana says: 'O Janamejaya! On hearing the news of the auspicious arrival of the Pandavas, the best of men, all the citizens of the city of Varanavat became very happy and leaving their laziness, thousands of them came in various types of vehicles to welcome them, carrying gifts of all kinds of auspicious goods according to the scriptures.
