मैंने मन ही मन सोचा कि यदि मैं किसी ऐसे ब्राह्मण से गाय मांग लूँ जिसके पास कम गायें हों, तो हो सकता है कि अग्निहोत्र आदि कर्म करने वाले अविवाहित पुरुष को गाय के दूध के बिना कष्ट उठाना पड़े। अतः जिसके पास बहुत सी गायें हों, उससे धर्मानुसार शुद्ध दान पाने की इच्छा से मैंने उस देश का अनेक बार भ्रमण किया। हे गंगापुत्र! एक देश से दूसरे देश में घूमने पर भी मुझे कोई दूध देने वाली गाय नहीं मिली। 52-53।
I thought to myself, if I ask for a cow from a Brahmin who has fewer cows, then it may happen that the bachelor engaged in his Agnihotra rituals etc. may have to suffer without the milk of a cow. Therefore, with the desire to get a pure donation according to the Dharma from the one who has many cows, I toured that country many times. O son of Ganga! Even after roaming from one country to another, I could not find any cow that gave milk. 52-53.
