तत्पश्चात् भूत-क्रिया के विशेषज्ञ पुरोहित कश्यपन ने स्नान करके स्वर्ण मुद्राएँ, घी, तिल, दही, चावल, जल से भरा घड़ा और कुल्हाड़ी आदि एकत्रित करके तपस्वी ऋषियों द्वारा अश्वमेध की अग्नि का आह्वान किया, उसे चारों ओर से चिताओं से प्रज्वलित किया और उचित शास्त्रीय विधि के अनुसार पाण्डुक का दाह संस्कार करवाया।
