परन्तु उसका मन काम के बल से वशीभूत था; इसलिए उसने मृगरूपी ऋषि से मिले शाप का स्मरण नहीं किया। हे कुरुपुत्र जनमेजय! वह काम के वश में हो गया था; इसलिए भाग्यवश उसने शाप के भय की उपेक्षा करके अपने प्राण त्यागने के लिए बलपूर्वक मैथुन करने की इच्छा से माद्री को आलिंगन किया।॥9-10॥
But his mind was overcome by the force of lust; therefore, he did not think of the curse he had received from the sage in the form of a deer. O son of Kuru, Janamejaya! He had fallen under the control of lust; therefore, driven by destiny, he ignored the fear of the curse and embraced Madri with the desire to have sexual intercourse with her forcefully in order to end his life.॥ 9-10॥
