शीतवातातपसह: क्षुत्पिपासानवेक्षक:।
तपसा दुश्चरेणेदं शरीरमुपशोषयन्॥ ३४॥
एकान्तशीली विमृशन् पक्वापक्वेन वर्तयन्।
पितॄन् देवांश्च वन्येन वाग्भिरद्भिश्च तर्पयन्॥ ३५॥ |

| मैं सर्दी, गर्मी और तूफान का वेग सहन करूँगा। भूख-प्यास की परवाह न करके कठिन तपस्या करके इस शरीर को सुखा दूँगा। एकांत में रहकर आत्मचिंतन करूँगा। कच्चे (कंद-मूल आदि) और पके (फल आदि) खाकर अपना जीवन निर्वाह करूँगा। जंगली फल-मूल, जल और मंत्रोच्चार से देवताओं और पितरों को तृप्त करूँगा। |

| I will endure the cold, heat and the force of the storm. I will not care for hunger and thirst and will dry up this body by performing difficult penances. I will stay in solitude and contemplate on the Self. I will sustain my life on raw (roots and tubers etc.) and ripe (fruits etc.). I will satisfy the gods and ancestors with wild fruits and roots, water and chanting of mantras. |
