श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने कहा, "गोपियाँ आनंद में डूबी हुई रास-नृत्य के क्षेत्र में प्रवेश कर गईं, किन्तु कृष्ण के उपेक्षा और विरक्ति भरे वचन सुनकर वे समझ गईं कि वे उनका त्याग करने वाले हैं। अतः वे क्रोध में आकर उन्हें डाँटने लगीं।"
