जब रामानंद राय ने श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु को भगवान कहकर संबोधित किया, तो चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने आपत्ति जताते हुए कहा, "मैं भगवान नहीं, बल्कि एक साधारण मनुष्य हूँ। इसलिए मुझे जनमत से तीन तरह से डरना चाहिए - तन, मन और वचन से।"
