"वही व्यक्तित्व जिसने मेरी युवावस्था में मेरा हृदय हर लिया था, अब पुनः मेरा स्वामी है। ये चैत्र मास की वही चाँदनी रातें हैं। मालती पुष्पों की वही सुगंध है, और कदम्ब वन से वही मधुर पवन बह रहा है। हमारे अंतरंग संबंध में, मैं भी वही प्रेमी हूँ, फिर भी मेरा मन यहाँ प्रसन्न नहीं है। मैं रेवा नदी के तट पर वेतासी वृक्ष के नीचे उस स्थान पर पुनः जाने के लिए आतुर हूँ। यही मेरी अभिलाषा है।"
The man who stole my heart in my youth is now my master again. These are the same moonlit nights of Chaitra, the same fragrance of jasmine flowers, and the same sweet breeze coming from the Kadamba forest. I am the same lover in our intimate relationship, yet my heart is not happy here. I yearn to go back to that place under the Vetsi tree on the banks of the Reva River. This is my wish."
