पद्म पुराण में रागानुग-भक्ति पर आधारित भाव से उत्पन्न प्रेम का वर्णन इस प्रकार किया गया है: "इस मन्वंतर काल में, सुंदर मुख वाली चंद्रकांति ने निरंतर ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन किया और निरंतर कृष्ण के स्वरूप का ही ध्यान किया, यह सोचकर कि 'किसी अन्य को पति के रूप में नहीं चाहना चाहिए।' वह रोंगटे खड़े होकर कृष्ण के गीत गाती रही। कृष्ण की कथाएँ सुनकर उनमें कृष्ण के प्रति पूर्ण अनुराग उत्पन्न हो गया।"
The Padma Purana describes love born of the emotion of raganuga-bhakti as follows: "During this Manvantara period, the beautiful-faced Chandrakanta constantly observed celibacy and constantly meditated on the form of Krishna, thinking, 'No one else should be desired as a husband.' She sang songs of Krishna with goosebumps. Listening to the stories of Krishna, she developed complete love for Krishna."
