In the next stage, one is initiated by a highly spiritual master, and under his guidance, the neophyte devotee begins the process of devotional service. By performing devotional service under the guidance of a spiritual master, one becomes free from all material attachments, attains stability in self-realization, and develops an interest in hearing about Lord Sri Krishna. This interest leads one to attachment to Krishna consciousness, which matures into the initial stage of bhava, or transcendental love of the Lord. Real love for the Lord is called prema, which is the highest perfection of life."
