तब कार्तवीर्यार्जुन ने परशुराम को मारने के लिए एक हजार भुजाओं में एक साथ पाँच सौ धनुषों पर बाण चढ़ा दिए। पर भगवान परशुराम ने एक ही धनुष से इतने बाण छोड़े कि कार्तवीर्यार्जुन के हाथों के सारे धनुष और बाण तुरंत कटकर टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गए।
