ज्यों ही राजा कार्तवीर्यार्जुन अपनी राजधानी माहिष्मती पुरी में प्रवेश कर ही रहा था कि उसने देखा भृगुवंशियों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ भगवान परशुराम अपने पीछे फरसा, ढाल, धनुष और बाण लिए हुए आ रहे हैं। भगवान परशुराम ने काली हिरन की खाल पहन रखी थी और उनके जटाजूट सूर्य की धूप की तरह चमक रहे थे।
Just as King Kartavirya Arjuna was entering his capital Mahishmati Puri, he saw Lord Parashurama, the best of the Bhrigu clan, chasing him with an axe, shield, bow and arrow. Parashurama was wearing the skin of a black deer and his matted locks looked like the brightness of the sun.
