लंका में प्रवेश के पश्चात् सुग्रीव, नील, हनुमान आदि प्रमुख वानर सेनापतियों के नेतृत्व में वानर सैनिकों ने समस्त विहार स्थलों, अन्न के भण्डारों, खजाना घरों, महलों के द्वारों, नगर के दरवाज़ों, सभाभवनों, महल के अग्रभागों और यहाँ तक कि कबूतरों के निवास स्थानों पर भी अधिकार कर लिया। जब नगर के सभी चौराहों, चबूतरों, झंडों तथा गुंबदों पर रखे हुए सुनहरे जलपात्र नष्ट हो गये, तब पूरी लंका नगरी उस नदी की तरह प्रतीत हो रही थी जिसे हाथियों के झुंड ने मथ डाला हो।
After entering Lanka, the monkey soldiers under the leadership of monkey commanders like Sugreeva, Neel, Hanuman etc. took over all the recreational places, food granaries, treasuries, palace gates, city gates, assembly halls, palace balconies and even pigeon houses. When all the squares, platforms, flags and golden pots placed on the domes of the city were destroyed, the entire city of Lanka looked like a river churned by a herd of elephants.
