इस प्रकार राक्षसगण देवताओं की इच्छा का विरोध करते हुए खामोश रहे। असुरों और उनकी मंशा को समझकर भगवान मुस्कुराए। उन्होंने बिना बातचीत किए तुरंत सांप की पूँछ पकड़कर उनके प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कर लिया और सभी देवता उनके पीछे चल दिए।
