शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा: हे कुरुश्रेष्ठ महाराज परीक्षित! देवताओं और असुरों ने सर्पराज वासुकि को बुलाया और उससे वादा किया कि वे उसे अमृत में हिस्सा देंगे। उन्होंने वासुकि को मंदरा पर्वत के चारों ओर रस्सी की तरह लपेट दिया और क्षीरसागर के मंथन से अमृत प्राप्त करने का प्रयास करने लगे।
Sukadeva Goswami said: O best of the Kurus, King Parikshit! The gods and demons called the serpent king Vasuki and promised him that they would give him a share in the nectar. They wrapped Vasuki around Mount Mandara like a churning rope and happily tried to produce nectar by churning the ocean of milk.
