केशरोमनखश्मश्रुमलानि जटिलो दधत् ।

वानप्रस्थ को चाहिए कि अपने सिर पर जटाएं रखे और अपने शरीर के बाल, नाखून और मूंछें बढ़ने दे। उसे अपने शरीर की गंदगी को न साफ करे। उसे एक कमंडल, मृग की खाल और डंडा रखना चाहिए, पेड़ की छाल का आवरण पहनना चाहिए और आग जैसे रंग (गेरुआ) के कपड़े का उपयोग करना चाहिए।
A Vanaprastha should keep matted hair on his head and let his body hair, nails and moustache grow. He should not clean the dust from his body. He should keep a kamandal, deerskin and a staff, wear a covering made of tree bark and use clothes of the colour of fire (ochre).
