असुरों के महान् सेनापति मय दानव ने तीन अदृश्य निवास बनाएँ और उन्हें असुरों को प्रदान कर दिए। ये तीनों निवास सोने, चाँदी और लोहे के बने हवाई जहाजों की तरह थे और उनमें अद्भुत सामान था। हे राजा युधिष्ठिर, इन तीनों निवासों के कारण असुरों के सेनापति देवताओं के लिए अदृश्य हो गए थे। इस अवसर का लाभ उठाकर और अपनी पुरानी दुश्मनी को याद रखते हुए, असुरों ने तीनों लोकों - ऊपरी, मध्य और निचले ग्रह प्रणालियों - को जीतना शुरू कर दिया।
Maya Danava, the great leader of the Asuras, prepared three invisible abodes and handed them over to the Asuras. These three abodes were like flying boats made of gold, silver and iron and had unique equipment. O King Yudhishthira, because of these three abodes, the commanders of the Asuras became invisible to the demigods. Taking advantage of this opportunity and remembering their former enmity, the Asuras began to destroy the three worlds—the upper, middle and lower worlds.
