अशपन् कुपिता एवं युवां वासं न चार्हथ: ।
रजस्तमोभ्यां रहिते पादमूले मधुद्विष: ।
पापिष्ठामासुरीं योनिं बालिशौ यातमाश्वत: ॥ ३८ ॥
अनुवाद
जय और विजय नामक द्वारपालों द्वारा रोक दिए जाने पर, सनंदन और अन्य महान ऋषियों ने क्रोधपूर्वक उन्हें श्राप दिया। उन्होंने कहा- "अरे मूर्ख द्वारपालों, तुम रजोगुण और तमोगुण से प्रभावित होने के कारण मधुद्विष के चरण-कमलों की शरण में रहने के अयोग्य हो, क्योंकि ये गुण उनमें नहीं हैं। तुम्हारे लिए अच्छा होगा कि तुम तुरंत भौतिक जगत में जाओ और बहुत ही पापी असुरों के परिवार में जन्म लो।"
When they were thus stopped by the gatekeepers named Jaya and Vijaya, Sanandana and the other sages cursed them in anger. They said, “O two foolish gatekeepers, you are unworthy of taking shelter at the feet of Madhudvisa, as you are agitated by the qualities of passion and ignorance, since they are devoid of such qualities. It will be better for you to immediately go to the material world and take birth in the family of the most sinful demons.”
