नलब्धभोगो यदिहाग्निदूत: ।
वर्षाणि साहस्रमलक्षितोऽन्त:
सञ्चिन्तयन् ब्रह्मवधाद्विमोक्षम् ॥ १५ ॥
अनुवाद
ब्रह्महत्या की सज़ा से मुक्ति पाने के उपाय सोचते हुए, राजा इन्द्र, सबों से अदृश्य होकर, सरोवर में कमलनाल के सूक्ष्म तन्तुओं के भीतर एक हज़ार वर्षों तक रहा। अग्निदेव उसे सभी यज्ञों से उसका हिस्सा लेकर देते थे, लेकिन चूँकि अग्निदेव पानी में प्रवेश करना पसंद नहीं करते थे, तो इन्द्र को भूख से ही रहना पड़ता था।
