यस्त्विह वा अनृतं वदति साक्ष्ये द्रव्यविनिमये दाने वा कथञ्चित्स वै प्रेत्य नरकेऽवीचिमत्यध:शिरा निरवकाशे योजनशतोच्छ्रायाद् गिरिमूर्ध्न: सम्पात्यते यत्र जलमिव स्थलमश्मपृष्ठमवभासते तदवीचिमत्तिलशो विशीर्यमाणशरीरो न म्रियमाण: पुनरारोपितो निपतति ॥ २८ ॥
अनुवाद
इस जीवनकाल में झूठी गवाही या कारोबार और दान के समय झूठ बोलने वाला व्यक्ति मृत्यु के बाद यमराज के दूतों द्वारा कड़ी सज़ा भुगतता है। इस तरह के पापी को आठ सौ मील ऊँचे पर्वत की चोटी से अवीचिमत् नामक नरक में सिर के बल गिराया जाता है। इस नरक में कोई आधार नहीं होता, और इसकी पथरीली भूमि जल की लहरों के समान दिखाई देती है। लेकिन इसमें पानी नहीं है, इसलिए इसे अवीचिमत् (जलरहित) कहा जाता है। कई बार वहाँ से गिराये जाने पर भी उस पापी व्यक्ति के शरीर के छोटे-छोटे टुकड़े हो जाने पर भी उसकी मृत्यु नहीं होती और उसे बार-बार सजा भुगतनी पड़ती है।
In this life, a person who gives false testimony for someone, or tells any kind of lie while doing business or giving charity, is tortured very badly by the messengers of Yamaraja after death. Such a sinner is thrown face down from the top of a mountain eight hundred miles high into a hell called Avichimat. This hell has no base and its rocky ground looks like waves of water, but there is no water in it; hence it is called Avichimat (waterless). Due to being thrown down from there repeatedly, the body of that sinner is torn into small pieces but still his life does not leave him and he has to bear the punishment again and again.
