In the middle of that island, forming the boundary of the inner and outer sides, there is a mountain called Manasottar. It is ten thousand yojanas (80,000 miles) high and equally wide. Above it in all four directions are the cities of Indra and other Lokpals. The Sun God travels in his chariot above this mountain in the circle called Samvastar, which revolves around Mount Meru. The path of the Sun in the north direction is called Uttarayan and in the south direction it is called Dakshinayan. For the gods, it is day in one direction and night in the other.
