सूत गोस्वामी ने आगे कहा: हे ऋषियों के महापुरुष शौनक! संसार में महान योग्यता, गौरव और प्रशंसा पाने वाले आदिराज पृथु के अनेक कार्यों के सन्दर्भ में मैत्रेय ऋषि को इस तरह कहते हुए सुनकर महान भक्त विदुर ने बड़े विनम्रतापूर्वक उनकी पूजा की और उनसे निम्नलिखित प्रश्न पूछा।
Suta Goswami further said: O Shaunak ji, the leader of the sages, after hearing Maitreya Rishi speaking in this manner about the various deeds of King Prithu, who was most worthy, glorified and praised in the whole world, the great devotee Vidur worshipped him with great humility and asked him the following question.
