जैमिनि के एक अन्य शिष्य सुकर्मा बहुत बड़े विद्वान थे। उन्होंने सामवेद रूपी विशाल वृक्ष को एक हज़ार संहिताओं में बाँट दिया। तब हे ब्राह्मण, सुकर्मा के तीन शिष्यों—कुशल पुत्र हिरण्यनाभ, पौष्यञ्जि और आध्यात्मिक साक्षात्कार में अग्रणी आवन्त्य—ने साम मंत्रों का भार सँभाला।
Jaimini's second disciple Sukarma was a great scholar. He divided the huge tree of the Samaveda into a thousand Samhitas. Then, O Brahmin, three disciples of Sukarma--Kushalputra Hiranyanabha, Paushyanji and Aavantya, foremost in spiritual realization--took charge of the Sama mantras.
