निस्संदेह, बलि महाराज की निर्दोष महिमाएँ पूरे विश्व में जानी जाती हैं। भगवान विष्णु इंद्र का वैभव बलि से छीनना चाहते थे। इस इच्छा से विष्णु ने ब्राह्मण का रूप धारण कर उनसे संपर्क किया और उन्हें अपने शक्तिशाली पद से नीचे गिरा दिया। हालाँकि राक्षसों के राजा बलि को इस छल के बारे में पूरी जानकारी थी और उन्हें उनके गुरु ने ऐसा न करने की मनाही भी की थी, फिर भी उन्होंने भगवान विष्णु को सारी पृथ्वी दान में दे दी।
Indeed, the unblemished fame of Bali Maharaja resounded throughout the world. Lord Viṣṇu, desirous of taking back from Bali the glory of Indra, appeared before him in the guise of a brāhmaṇa and struck him down from his powerful position. Although the demon king Bali was aware of this deceit and was forbidden by his preceptor, he nevertheless gave the entire earth in charity to Viṣṇu.
