प्रभु ने देखा कि मथुरा के ऊँचे-ऊँचे द्वार तथा घरों के प्रवेशद्वार स्फटिक के बने थे, इसके विशाल तोरण तथा मुख्य द्वार सोने के थे, इसके अन्न गोदाम तथा अन्य भण्डार ताँबे तथा पीतल के बने थे और इसकी परिखा अप्रवेश्य थी। मनोहर उद्यान तथा उपवन इसकी शोभा बढ़ा रहे थे। मुख्य चौराहे सोने से बनाये गये थे और इसकी इमारतों के साथ निजी विश्राम-उद्यान थे, साथ ही व्यापारिकों के सभाभवन तथा अन्य अनेक इमारतें थीं। मथुरा मोर तथा पालतू कबूतरों की बोलियों से गूंज रहा था, जो जालीदार खिड़कियों के छेदों पर, रत्नजटित फर्शों पर तथा खंभेदार छज्जों और घरों के सामने के सज्जित धरनों पर बैठे थे। ये छज्जे तथा धरने वैदूर्य मणियों, हीरों, स्फटिकों, नीलमों, मूँगों, मोतियों तथा हरित मणियों से सजाये गये थे। समस्त राजमार्गों तथा व्यापारिक गलियों में जल का छिड़काव हुआ था। इसी तरह पार्श्व गलियों तथा चबूतरों को भी सींचा गया था। सर्वत्र फूल मालाएँ, नव अंकुरित जौ, लावा तथा अक्षत बिखेरे हुए थे। घरों के दरवाजों के प्रवेशमार्ग पर जल से भरे सुसज्जित घड़े शोभा दे रहे थे जिन्हें आम की पत्तियों से अलंकृत किया गया था और दही तथा चन्दनलेप से पोता गया था। उनके चारों ओर फूल की पंखुड़ियाँ तथा फीते लपेटे हुए थे। इन घड़ों के पास झंडियाँ, दीपों की पंक्ति, फूलों के गुच्छे, केलों के तथा सुपारी के वृक्षों के तने थे।
The Lord saw that Mathura's tall gates and entrances to houses were made of crystal, its huge arches and main gates were of gold, its granary and other stores were made of copper and brass and its moat was impenetrable. Beautiful gardens and groves added to the beauty of the city. The main squares were paved with gold and its buildings were accompanied by private resting-gardens, as well as assembly halls for merchants and many other buildings. Mathura resounded with the calls of peacocks and domestic pigeons that perched on the latticed window-holes, on the jeweled floors and on the arched balconies and decorated platforms in front of the houses. These balconies and platforms were adorned with lapis lazuli, diamonds, crystals, sapphires, corals, pearls and jade. All the highways and commercial streets were sprinkled with water. Similarly, the side streets and platforms were also watered. Flower garlands, newly sprouted barley, lava and rice grains were scattered everywhere. Decorated pitchers filled with water adorned the entrances of the doors of the houses, which were decorated with mango leaves and smeared with curd and sandalwood paste. Flower petals and ribbons were wrapped around them. Near these pitchers were flags, rows of lamps, bunches of flowers, trunks of banana and betelnut trees.

श्रील विश्वनाथ चक्रवर्ती ठाकुर अत्यधिक सजे हुए बर्तनों का यह वर्णन करते हैं: "प्रत्येक द्वार के दोनों ओर, बिखरे हुए चावलों के ऊपर एक बर्तन है। प्रत्येक बर्तन को फूलों की पंखुड़ियों से सजाया गया है, उसकी गर्दन पर रिबन बंधे हुए हैं और उसके मुंह में आम और अन्य पेड़ों की पत्तियाँ हैं। प्रत्येक बर्तन के ऊपर एक सोने की थाली पर दीयों की पंक्तियाँ हैं। प्रत्येक बर्तन के दोनों ओर एक केले के पेड़ का तना है और उसके सामने और पीछे सुपारी के पेड़ का एक तना है। बर्तनों के सहारे ध्वज झुकते हुए प्रतीत होते हैं।"
