ग्वालबालों में से किसी ने अपना भोजन फूलों पर रख लिया तो किसी ने पत्तियों, फलों या पत्तों के गुच्छों पर, किसी ने अपने पात्र में तो किसी ने पेड़ की खाल पर और किसी ने चट्टानों पर। बालकों ने खाते समय इन्हीं को अपनी पत्तलें (थालियाँ) समझ लिया।
Some of the cowherd boys kept their food on flowers, some on leaves, fruits or bunches of leaves, some actually in their baskets, some on the bark of trees and some on rocks. The children considered these as their plates while eating.
