जब ग्वालों और गोपियों को जंगल में बकासुर के मारे जाने का समाचार मिला तो वे अत्यंत आश्चर्यचकित हो उठे। कृष्ण को देखते ही और उनकी कहानी सुनते ही उन्होंने कृष्ण का बड़ी उत्सुकता से स्वागत किया और यह सोचा कि कृष्ण और अन्य बालक मृत्यु के मुँह से वापस आ गए हैं। इसलिए वे कृष्ण और उन बालकों को चुपचाप नेत्रों से देखते रहे। अब जब बालक सुरक्षित थे, तो उनकी आँखें उनसे हटना ही नहीं चाह रही थीं।
When the cowherds and gopis heard the news of Bakasura being killed in the forest, they were very surprised. Seeing Krishna and hearing his story, they welcomed him with great enthusiasm, thinking that Krishna and the other children had returned from the jaws of death. So they kept looking at Krishna and the children with silent eyes. Now that the children were safe, their eyes did not want to move away from them.
